Tallow Talk: Your Questions Answered

General Tallow Questions

So… Tallow? What is it?

Tallow is rendered beef fat — traditionally used for centuries to nourish and protect the skin. We use only 100% grass-fed, hand-rendered tallow that’s rich in vitamins A, D, E & K, making it an incredibly effective and gentle moisturizer.

Why haven’t I heard of this before?

Tallow fell out of mainstream skincare when synthetic, lab-made ingredients took over. But we believe in going back to what works — time-tested, God-designed, and nutrient-rich.

Why use tallow on skin?

Tallow is remarkably similar to our skin’s natural oils, which makes it deeply absorbable and non-irritating. It locks in moisture, soothes dry or inflamed skin, and supports skin barrier repair.

Is it safe for pregnancy or babies?

Yes. Our tallow whips and balms (especially Bare Glow Whip and Vanilla Glow Whip) are gentle enough for babies, bums, and bellies. No synthetic fragrances, no essential oils (unless noted), just pure, simple ingredients.

Does tallow help with skin conditions?

Many customers have found relief from eczema, acne, dry patches, psoriasis, and more. While we don’t make medical claims, our formulas are designed to support skin healing naturally.

Where does your tallow come from?

Our tallow is hand-rendered in small batches using fat from local, grass-fed, pasture-raised cattle. We believe in honoring the animal and using every part with purpose.

Is tallow balm vegan?

No — tallow is an animal-based fat and therefore not vegan. We fully respect plant-based lifestyles but are committed to sustainable animal-based skincare.

How to Use & Choose

Which Glow Whip is right for me?

  • Bare Glow Whip – Sensitive skin, babies, minimalists
  • Lavender Glow Whip – Calming, post-sun or bedtime balm
  • Vanilla Glow Whip – Gentle, nourishing, family-friendly
  • Frankie Glow Whip – Earthy, resin-rich, more masculine
  • Glow Revival Whip – Mature, dry, or sun-damaged skin
  • Wild Clear Glow Whip – Blemish-prone, oily, or inflamed skin
  • Glow Repair Whip – Targeted support for eczema, psoriasis, and barrier repair

How do I use it?

Apply a pea-sized amount after cleansing — a little goes a long way! Best used on damp skin to seal in moisture. Safe for face, body, lips, and even stretch marks or scars.

Can I use my own essential oils with it?

Yes! If you’re using Bare Glow Whip, you’re welcome to mix in your own essential oils — just test a small patch first and mix well.

Product & Care Questions

What’s the shelf life?

Because we don’t use synthetic preservatives, we recommend using your tallow products within 6–12 months. Store in a cool, dry place with the lid tightly closed.

Why does the texture feel different?

Natural ingredients vary from batch to batch depending on temperature, humidity, and infusions. All whipped products may settle slightly or firm up in colder months — this is totally normal!

Is it greasy or oily?

Tallow absorbs beautifully into the skin, especially when applied to damp skin. Some people notice a slight residue at first, but it quickly soaks in — no greasy aftermath here.

Skin-Specific & Specialty Products

What’s best for eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or really dry, reactive skin?

Our Glow Repair Whip is specifically formulated to support barrier repair, calm inflammation, and deeply nourish skin prone to eczema, psoriasis, and chronic dryness. It’s infused with calming, skin-rebuilding botanicals and designed for gentle, consistent use.

Customers with sensitive or reactive skin also love Bare Glow Whip, Lavender Glow Whip, or Frankie Glow Whip, depending on scent and infusion preference.

For blemishes or hormonal breakouts, we recommend Wild Clear Glow Whip — formulated to soothe and clarify without clogging pores. Always patch test if you’re sensitive — your skin will tell you what it loves.

Which tallow product is best for tattoos?

Our Tattoo Tallow Balm is made specifically for fresh and healed ink. It helps protect, nourish, and revive skin using resin-infused beeswax, herbal-infused tallow, and oils that support healing and vibrancy. We also offer Tattoo Tallow Sun Balm to guard tattoos against fading from sun exposure.

Does your sun cream actually work?

Yes — our Sun Glow Lotion and Sun Glow Whip contain 20% non-nano zinc oxide, a mineral UV blocker. While not SPF-rated (due to FDA regulations), it offers broad-spectrum sun protection when applied generously and reapplied regularly.

Is your sunscreen safe for babies and sensitive skin?

Yes. Our sun care is formulated with gentle, botanical ingredients and no synthetic chemicals, making it safe for kids, babies (6+ months), and even sensitive or eczema-prone skin.

Do you make anything for sore muscles or pain?

Yes! Try our Wild Stick I (herbal-infused balm) or Wild Stick II (with added menthol and camphor). These are crafted to soothe overworked muscles, tension, and discomfort with tallow, botanicals, and resin-infused beeswax.

Formulation & Ingredient Questions

What do you infuse your tallow with?

We infuse our tallow (and often our oils and beeswax) with herbs like calendula, chamomile, marshmallow root, white willow bark, clove, frankincense resin, and more — chosen for their skin-supportive and soothing properties.

Do you use essential oils in your products?

Only when clearly labeled. Many of our whips are unscented or scented solely through botanical infusions. When we do use essential oils, they’re chosen in skin-safe amounts with care.

Do your products contain preservatives or synthetic ingredients?

Nope. Everything we make is natural, non-toxic, and crafted in small batches. We use vitamin E (tocopherol) as a natural antioxidant where needed — and nothing more.

Are your products safe to use while nursing?

Yes — especially our Bare Glow Whip and Vanilla Glow Whip, which are made without essential oils. Always consult your care provider if you’re

How is Wild Render Co. different from other tallow brands?

We aren’t here to follow trends — we’re here to return to what’s good, true, and time-tested. Every jar from Wild Render Co. is rendered with purpose: from the sourcing of our grass-fed tallow to the way we infuse herbs, resins, and oils that God designed to nourish and heal.

We don’t take shortcuts. We don’t chase perfection. We make small-batch, honest skincare that honors the whole body — and the whole family. It’s not just about what’s in the jar. It’s about who we made it for: mamas, babies, men, women, teens — real people with real skin and real lives.
